for Adrienne & all - what needs to happen to electrify fleet? (when equivalent EV/PHEV light vehicles cost 1.5-2.2* equiv ICE vehicle?)

I love the vision of a zero carbon tourism experience. Could we invest in more electric campervans and electric planes for eg short tourism flights? We have the local skills to convert ICE to electric, if market is incentivised, could grow new jobs/industry too.

the vehicle Category, Use & Import Rules prevent it. Simple example a Camper has to be under 3,500kgs on a light vehicle, or user has to be trained. Todays ICE campers are 3,000kgs to 3,500kgs as combo of payload & vehicle. An EV battery pack adds 400kg on avg - so can't carry the passengers & still fit under 3,500kgs. Needs new rules & incentives. :(

p.s. an SME running a $50,000 Commercial LV with minimal sign writing - so a UTE or Van - has access to about $18,000 a year MORE in tax reliefs, compared to a $35,000 medium car/wagon/SUV. With that tax break comes about 35% more Green House Gas though.

COVID has changed the future and need of day to day Transport into a CBD/office with continued remote work (And it’s many benefits). Why are you assuming a ‘back to normal’? How can we agree on a vision, plan, change policies, and invest towards this future?

would love a vision to become a strategy. Without reality check & change, 'back to normal' will be inevitable - especially on basics like transport. Don't want it, but..... even with being weened off CBD/office reliance, people need to move & change school behaviours too. Biggest change must be Public Transport invested & boosted - if necessary free/$2 cap - create PT vision by causing PT 100% utilisation & behaviour change.

Energy and Potential. having energy supply to do work; in a way the human body does the same thing. Energy supply just gives us an ability to carry something out, during the day and night at all times. Energy or power supply is mobile, yet dependent on localised system to continue this mobility. The use of fossil fuel to create the power needed seems like a contradictory of terms, that energy is needed to create energy. Increase wind farms, or wave farms, upgrade all ready existing hydro-stations - change the generators without exploitations of our natural environment in creating new ones. The possibilities are enormous to say the least.
